The most hyped things about the Panther Lake Lineup is the integrated graphics and efficiency. However, it is very misleading and confusing for the end users.
Intel has released around 10 Pathner Lake H Series CPUs as of now but among them only 4 SKUs (Ultra X9 388H, Ultra X9 378H, Ultra X7 368H, Ultra X7 358H) have this B390 Graphics (12 Xe Cores) and one (Core Ultra 5 338H) has Arc B370 Graphics (10 Xe Cores).
All the rest of the Processors just have 4 Xe Cores, unlike older series, where the GPU Core count decreases gradually. As a result, Those CPU's integrated Graphics Performance, say the Core Ultra 7 356H of your example, has poor iGPU performance than older Arc 140V and 130V in Lunar Lake Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 5 and even slower than Arc 140T in Core Ultra 7 255H (Arrow Lake) as those are having 8 or 7 Xe Cores.
Now regarding CPU performance, Intel never promised higher performance over Arrow Lake. So, you will get similar raw performance for that processor as from 255H or AMD's Ryzen AI 9 365/ 370/465/470. However, due to better efficiency, the battery life is better across the board.
So, unless you are getting oneof those Processors with 12 Core B390M or 10 Core B370M Graphics, don't pay a lot of money over last generation Arrow Lake Processors. I would always get a Core Ultra 7 255H based or Ryzen AI 9 HX 470/370 or AI 9 365/465 based laptop by paying a lot extra over Non X sereis Panther Lake 300 series Chips. They will give you more or less same CPU performance, better iGPU performance and slightly less battery life.
1. Screen is great and plenty bright for me. I don't think I've ever had it above 50%, but I also never use it outside. Didn't think I would ever use the touchscreen but I've made several dashboards I used during impromtu presentations where it was nice to be able to tap the screen to go to a new figure.
2. Battery life has been great. If I was doing basic development, emails, etc. I could probably get full work-day battery life if I kept the brightness down lower.
3. Touchpad is awful; I hate it so much. It's enormous (not bad) but the palm rejection is terrible (very bad). It goes right to the bottom edge where you want to rest your palm as well.
Even with the terrible touchpad would definitely buy again at the $1400 price point. I just carry a wireless mouse in my bag and use that as much as possible.
I just recently finished an XPS with the same chip, and im working on a x9 thinkpad as i type this also same chip.
And a bunch of intel b390 handheld stuff coming.
In the end, you can see im pretty hyped about intels return to being good
Community Reviews
This MSI Prestige 16 AI+ stands out as a thin, premium 16 inch OLED laptop with strong battery life, a very bright touchscreen, and solid everyday responsiveness. The Core Ultra X7 358H and Arc B390 graphics are praised for productivity, light coding, presentations, and even some esports gaming, while 32GB of memory and the 1TB SSD make it feel well equipped for long-term use. The main knocks are the large touchpad, shallow keyboard feel for some, and repeated reports of heat and fan noise under load or even at idle. It feels like a capable portable work machine if you value screen quality and memory over raw graphics power.
Common Questions (5)
Heat is a recurring concern: some units are described as very hot to the touch, with fans spinning hard even at idle and the power brick also running hot. A few reports say the heat settles after Windows updates, but others still see warmth near the charging port and vents after updating.
For buyers who want the Panther Lake X7-358H with B390 graphics, the price is seen as unusually low for this class and competitive with much pricier alternatives. The tradeoff is that it is still integrated graphics, so it makes sense mainly if you value the 32GB RAM, portability, battery life, and strong everyday performance over a discrete GPU.
The 16-inch 2.8K 120Hz OLED panel is described as bright and beautiful, with one report calling it a great 1000-nit screen. The touchscreen is useful for quick taps during presentations, and there is a keyboard key to disable the touchpad so you can use touch without a mouse.
The 32GB configuration is the safer choice for this CPU and for longevity, since 16GB is repeatedly described as a bare minimum and can become limiting for multitasking, browsers, and heavier productivity. The main practical upside of this deal is avoiding an unupgradeable 16GB ceiling.
Battery life is reported as strong for basic work, with one owner expecting a full workday at lower brightness and another getting over 1.5 hours of unplugged e-sports gaming. The low-power iGPU setup and efficient CPU make it a better portable option than many dGPU laptops.

8533 guarantees hynix already.
They might perform similarly in some games, but there's a huge difference in raw compute.
Great 1000nit screen.
Very lower sustained power budget, 25w vs 45w on the 999 acer.
For everyday use, no difference.
For hard carry, acer.
acer not without its flaws, 16gb is a pain in the butt.
