Community Reviews
The 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller is a nostalgia focused N64 pad that also works with PC, Switch, and Analogue 3D, especially after a firmware update. It is modeled after the Japan only N64 controller, and the layout clearly carries that classic Nintendo inspiration. The main strength is authentic retro feel with broad compatibility when set up correctly. The main caveat is remapping and sensitivity, since button mapping can depend on the platform and GoldenEye play felt too sensitive for some setups. A solid fit if you want an N64 style controller and do not need effortless universal remapping.
Common Questions (5)
It is not strictly limited to N64 games, but compatibility and remapping may be more limited than expected on some platforms. If you want a general-purpose controller, verify that your target device supports it the way you need.
It works with PC, Switch, and Analogue 3D, and updating the firmware is recommended to unlock all features. It can also be used with an OG N64 through a BlueRetro receiver.
Remapping can work, but it depends on the platform and setup. On Switch OLED, A and B remapping worked and the controller was recognized as a Pro controller, while PC games and emulators often require manual mapping.
Yes, updating the firmware is recommended to get all features, especially for Analogue 3D use. Without it, some functions may not be available or may behave poorly.
It is modeled after a Japan-only N64 controller, and its shape also influenced the GameCube controller design. The styling is intentionally retro and N64-focused.

I believe remapping buttons is likely depending on where you plan to use it. I believe Switch 2 has native button mapping, PC games and emulators you often map the buttons yourself.

I hadn't given remapping any thought. After reading your comment, I thought I'd try it. I have a Beboncool controller(N107) and 8Bitdo Ultimate C. I just tried remapping A & B, on both, and both worked. The system identified them as a Pro controller. The "Done" button was greyed out before I remapped. But after remapping, it changed to blue, and it worked. This is on a Switch OLED.
Tough call.
