I bought one that was owned by whirlpool. They discontinued the app but was giving out refunds. I bought it on bestbuy for $20, they sent me $50 check.
but it worked with another app. it was garbage though since it's Bluetooth. wifi ones are way better.

Needless to say, the bigger the company, the better with these things. The Thermomaven ones that are popular on this site are the best I've ever used, really solid connection and unlimited range, and are backed by Typhur. Even in general, going for no-name brands is seldom worth it long-term. For reference, the Typhur equivalent of this has a far better design and is $5 more on sale and an app-less 2 probe Thermomaven model going for $40. Even at $20, I wouldn't call this a good value in the least.
