I had ordered a Vankyo and actually is was pretty good and I like the auto focus. The lumens was not very bright at around 200, so this is a step up and only $50. I asked AI and it said if a true 680, for $50, a great deal. I then put in the model and it said Vankyo normally does not inflate their numbers, so good to know.
A true tv replacement starts at 1000 or more lumens, but if you want to show a movie outside in the dark, probably ok. My daughter has a different manufactures and uses it in her garage when she is exercising on her bike and rowing machine.
So look at your use case and see if it might be useful. I was thinking of maybe an outdoor event at church with the kids or even in the building.

They are excellent value for the money, there are a few reviews out there with lux meter recorded brightness figures in the 600s.
Yes, they shipped out in their retail boxes, single wall paperboard and beat to hell, one was missing the power cable, another the included fabric screen, but returns are free. I project to my bare bedroom wall like a lazy pleb and it's plenty bright in Eco mode (nighttime viewing) - you'd still need light control for the daytime, and any screen would help the gain even more
You kind of have to accept the eBay refurb roulette as a part of the process, these are big box returns
I used it for a week before the imperfections stared me in the face everytime I used it. The lens is crap, there's no real adjustment for the lens position, blacks are gray and colors are muted.
I replaced it with a $150 Panasonic AU4000 (which is like 15 years old) and it absolutely blew this out of the water.
My suggestion is to do some researched on really good 1080p projects that might be older. I did end up moving on from the Panasonic to a JVC X500R for a little more. It's unreal.

I was impressed with the auto focus features. It did an excellent job. But at 200 lumens, it was ok with the lights off in the bedroom, but not the best (showing on a small wall). I am hoping at 680 lumens that will be much better. Who knows maybe I will win the lottery and get the 700G like you did.
