These are way overpriced.

This refurbished MSI gaming desktop stands out for packing high-end parts like an RTX 5080, 64GB of DDR5, and a 2TB Gen4 SSD at a price that undercuts comparable new systems. The configuration is also described as a strong value for the CPU and memory, with some comparing it favorably to building the same setup from scratch. The main cautions are the limited 180 day MSI warranty, conflicting warranty wording on the spec sheet, and reports of refurb units arriving with swapped parts or Windows activation issues. It looks like a solid spec sheet deal, but the after-sale support deserves a close look.

  • The included 64GB and 2TB configuration can price competitively versus piecing together parts.

    Elon69Elon69

  • The deal can work out well for buyers targeting 64GB DDR5 memory capacity.

    BuIlshark

  • A 9900X variant reportedly ran fine since last December and stayed near the purchase price.

    FeistyJuice

  • One reconditioned unit reportedly looked brand new and passed benchmarks and Prime testing.

    jefflins

  • Woot's warranty language can conflict with the spec sheet, with an 180-day warranty versus a 1-year spec sheet.

    masachsjtree1

  • MSI warranty support reportedly denied a claim based on manufacture date and led to inspection charges and missing internal parts.

    abramowicz

  • Refurb units can arrive with configuration differences from the Woot listing, including different storage and RAM.

    Ballstomywalls

  • Windows Home activation reportedly failed after factory reset and required an RMA/testing process.

Didn't a 29 year old guy named Chamel Abdulkarim light one of those monster warehouses in Ontario, CA on fire a month or so ago?
That was one of them.

There are tons.

Not sure what the city did to become such a huge hub, but here's some notable companies that operate from there:

Why are those ARC cards going to be offloaded? Why would we want to buy them?
If you know, you know.

You seem to be reinvesting most of it in cocaine. Slow down a bit.

Try focusing on securing the Intel ARC GPUs that are about to be offloaded onto the secondhand market.

Save these for people who finally want to play post-pandemic games.
Can you explain this to me like I am 9?

Anyone feel weird about buying from woot? they offer a 180 day warranty. if you click further the spec sheet says 1 year. how has their customer service been? I'd like to hold out for Costco to come through with something. For what it's worth: Chat says

The concern is that you're paying essentially new-PC money for a refurbished PC.
If this were:
  • $1,750 refurbished → I'd say it's a great deal.
  • $1,986 brand new → I'd buy it.
  • $1,986 refurbished → I'd keep shopping.

I bought the same exact machine as the MSI Aegis R2 AI B2NVV9-1411US (U9 285, RTX 5080) on Amazon.com (Woot was the seller) for $2749 (+tax) a couple of days ago. It was refurbished - same everything. It was the best deal I could find on a 5080, 64GB of memory and a decent CPU (even better CPU that I expected).

I was able to cancel the order and buy this at the $2339.99 price. Saved $410! Woot!

It has to do with Intel veering towards AI architecture and creating components that sell for far more than consumer models. ARC also wasn't as well received as Nvidia or AMD because of compatibility issues and marketing. ARC also has more power draw relative to the performance. They are good budget-friendly GPUs, but they're not as assimilated into consumer culture and will be abandoned so Intel can chase Nvidia's AI market share.

Does anyone if they are sold by MSI directly? Reliable?
MSI is not reliable. The one time I decided to use their warranty and CS, they denied the claim based on the start date being the date of manufacture rather than sale, which just passed, charged me for the inspection and returned the product with internal cables disconnected and screws missing. They were also pretty rude about it, dismissive and ghosting. Never again.
