The 97 inch LG G5 open box is mainly a giant OLED for dark rooms and wall mounting, with the flush LG wall mount included instead of a stand. The picture can look stunning at this size, and several panels with 3,000 to 4,200 hours passed burn in tests and arrived working well. The main caution is that the 97 inch model uses older panel tech than smaller G5 sizes, and open box units can be floor models with heavy hours, missing accessories, or burn in risk. A strong fit if size matters most.

  • Home theater buyers with a dark room who want the biggest OLED image, because the 97-inch screen feels immersive and the picture can look incredible at that size.

  • Shoppers comfortable evaluating an open-box display unit in person, because condition and hours vary widely and some units still test clean after thousands of hours.

  • Wall-mounted setups that need a flush-to-wall look, because the included mount is designed to sit the panel tight against the wall.

  • People who want a low-risk open-box purchase, because these units can have high hours, burn-in, missing accessories, or unclear grading.

  • Buyers expecting a true flagship 97-inch OLED panel, because the 97-inch version uses older technology than the smaller G5 sizes.

  • Shoppers who need easy delivery and simple setup, because open-box units may not be delivered and large-screen returns or mounting can be a hassle.

Most of these tvs are missing the stand/mount/remote and no box, but they will usually give you a free remote since they have so many on hand.

Best Buy will not deliver open box tvs and will only bubble wrap the TV which you will have to pick up yourself. They will provide free mounting service due to the size.

Even though returns are possible, doing so with a tv this large is an endeavor in and of itself. Good luck to anybody playing the open box lottery.
Also worth noting that the G5 series does NOT include a stand in the box, only a wallmount (special one that mounts flush to the wall). I think whoever marks these down isn't aware of that, and is taking off a higher discount for lack of stand in the box.

With that said, you do want the actual LG Wallmount that's included, as it lets you mount it flush against the wall, which is a big selling point for the G series

Might want to add Open Box in your title. No way I'm spending 5K+ on an open box. That's insanity.

Went down to 4061 today! Don't forget to argue for your price adjustments!

And also don't forget bestbuy total, it had a special offer for $100 off the first year when I bought last week so you'll get two years of warranty on everything you purchase including this tv for $300, including a 60 day return policy. Just the warranty for this tv is good enough, and after the 2nd year you can continue to extend for around 10$ a month for the next 7 years guranteeing your investment will last a while. Honestly a steal at this price for the largest oled on the planet.

Let us know if you find any issues or learn anything. There aren't that many 97 inch g5 owners so not much info. I'll post any issues when my TV is delivered next week. They were able to deliver it because mine was in a random box (not manufacturers packaging). I paid for the install because I didn't want to deal with mounting it and had to buy my own mount for this TV which is wb24gdb in case anyone else is confused on which wall plate to buy.

It's pretty awesome, haven't noticed any issues. Hired some good labor for $300 and used the Sanus preferred from costco. Still need to build out my media room to truly appreciate it. Funny enough, at this screen size I do understand the need for the potential 8k resolution haha. I don't think it's as crisp as my 65 inch G3.

Overall really happy though. In my 15 year of using this site, it's my slickest deal ever.

That's awesome! I'm glad it went well!!! How close is your sitting position? I plan to be about 10 ft away and wondered if it was too close but my current screen is a 120inch projector and I'm so glad to be done with bland colors and contrast!

I got one. They knocked off $3999 I'm already Best Buy total member. Problem is they won't deliver because I'm too far. It's has some blotchy parts that can turn into burn in so maybe. I'm wondering if I use it for almost. 2 years and later just file a claim. I haven't picked it up yet. Figuring out how to pick up. I'm 80 miles away.

Just wanted to report back, geek squad delivered it and mounted it. It is absolutely beautiful and at a 9 ft seating distance it feels perfect! Does not feel too close or pixelated at all! 4238 hours on the panel, did all the screen burn tests and absolutely nothing, even on the 40% gray scale slides. Good luck to everyone else lucky enough to score the largest oled on earth!

In my case I clicked the link to the open box and at the time there was one near me and one 300 miles away. This was when there were still quite a few of these. You can always play around with zip codes and search every 250 miles of a zip code if you're looking to find one near you.
