This is a tiny dedicated MP3 player aimed at screen free listening, travel, workouts, and kids who want music without phone distractions. It is very light, adds Bluetooth 5.3, FM radio, a headphone jack, and microSD expansion, and it can be handy for offline use on planes, camping, or in the car. The main concerns are storage and sound quality, since the 32GB version can feel tight, the advertised memory setup is confusing, and some reports call the audio flat or the Bluetooth unreliable. It makes the most sense if you want a simple standalone music device.

  • Travelers and commuters who want offline listening, because it is compact, lightweight, and works well on planes or during power outages.

  • People who already own MP3 files and want a separate music device, because it keeps music off the phone and avoids call or notification interruptions.

  • Kids learning to listen without a phone, because it supports screen-free music time with a lightweight dedicated player.

  • Listeners with modest libraries who want expandable storage, because the player supports microSD expansion beyond the built-in capacity.

  • People with large lossless libraries, because playback can be limited to files under about 900 kbps and some FLAC rips exceed that.

  • Listeners who want streaming apps or easy syncing, because loading and keeping MP3s current is a hassle and offline Spotify support is not built in.

  • People who need reliable Bluetooth playback, because Bluetooth can drop out quickly and fail with some libraries.

  • Buyers expecting polished audio-player software, because custom equalization may not work and tracks can sort by filename instead of tags.

Viwizard and "spytify" are technically legal under fair use, that's how I populated my daughter's mp3 player for offline use.

A dedicated MP3 player (they actually play other formats as well) is a great option for anyone who doesn't want to be tied to their phone, or have all their music tied to their phone. I have a small device like this that is great fun once you get used to the rather antiquated interface. I also have an Android 13-based DAP that is far superior because it can run all the streaming apps (YouTube Music, Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, and my favorite, Qobuz). But the generic Android 13 models start at about $65.

I still rock mine for when I travel. Great for use on the plane. I also had installed the Rockbox firmware on it too. Cool
I don't use it, but I would never throw it out LOL. Rockbox is great!

Cats listen through their cheeks
no, no they don't, their entire auditory function is through their ears like most mammals.

Am I reading this correctly? Not compatible with car bluetooth systems? Is there something special about car bluetooth that makes this device only work with headphones and other bluetooth speakers but not the one in my car?
Funny you should ask. Some car Bluetooth systems will refuse to connect to a device that does not show a pairing code on its screen and allow you to accept it. That is how my car entertainment system in my Chevy Bolt EUV works. It is frustrating. I don't know if this device will let you see the pair code and accept it, but that might be the source of the comment.

With all the cloning and ripping off IP I'm surprised no one has cloned the iPod clickwheel yet and taken over.
Closest thing is an innioasis Y1. It's an iPod clone that has the wheel and everything. it doesn't have the same haptics feedback on the wheel but it's there. You can even install Rockbox on it like an iPod classic. They are pretty popular and only cost $50 (cheaper on walmart/Amazon than the official site. I got my 128GB version for $50 from walmart)

lot of kids are now disconnecting from phones and apps so this is a great device if that is the goal and get a nice screenfree time.
They should be using smartphones more, not less. That's the direction the future is going, and if they're not comfortable with the technology, then they'll be left behind in a tech-first economy...!

And all of them are DRM free?My point is that most "kids" these days don't buy mp3's anymore. They use a service like Spotify or Apple music. So the notion that a parent buying this for their kid as a phone free alternative is not that practical since they would have to spend a lot of money on buying mp3's that the kid probably doesn't have yet.
You can always download the audio from youtube and convert it to mp3.

Only if Sandisk still has its mp3 players. Mine still works after 10 years
i'm still rocking my sansa's from like 20 years ago. i stocked up because with rockbox installed they are the best players ever! 256gb card, no problem after rockbox removes the limit, just need to find a tool online that can format it to fat32 which someone made.

I have a few e300's which are great because you can easily change the battery with 4 screws. love the fuze's too but they are trickier to service the battery. need medical clamps at very least as the the battery is connected via a ribbon cable. i haven't changed one of those fully yet but got one i took apart reconnected by taking it to a cellphone repair guy when i was living in SE Asia. he had the tools for it.

My ipods still work after 15+ years
That's surprising since the were designed to fail after warranty ran out. typical apple style. also as they had mechanical hdd's. you must have gotten very lucky.
