Yes. If the Orange is within your budget, that is the one I would get of the two, but if money is tight, the Fender will be a fine to start out with. You'll be somewhat limited compared to the Orange. The Orange is an all-around better amp and will not be outgrown as quickly as the Fender.

I have the 10w Fender and plan to upgrade to this as a "main amp" for practice. I've heard it before and it's a lot better in tone and volume. If I hadn't gotten the previous amp as part of a package deal, this Orange would have been my top choice.

What do you think of the RocketBass RB-108?

The local guitar shop said that's the one to get, but a little over $200, but it has all the mixers and stuff you'd get from pedals.
For non-band play-at-home, you think this Orange is the better deal?

EDIT: Blackstar ID Core V4 is what the shop said for guitar, the RB-108 was when referencing a bass guitar amp, my bad.

The rocket bass RB 108 is a bass amp which would be better suited for a bass guitar. This Orange is a guitar amplifier. If you were going to plug a regular six string guitar into it, the Orange is better. If you are playing bass, a bass amp is better.

However, the RB-108 only has an 8-inch speaker. My feeling is that if you're playing bass you want to be able to have that massive low end and that's really hard to do with an 8" speaker. I would go with a 10" speaker. That puts you into the RocketBass RB-110 at about $300. You could also look at the Fender Rumble 40, which usually can be found for around $230-250 online.

Replying to your edit:

I don't have a lot of personal experience with those amps.

The only Blackstar I have is the Fly 3 which is much smaller. That said, for an entry level digital amp, the ID Core V4 series seems pretty well regarded. Another similar option would be the Fender Mustang LT40S which has some similar features.

Although for that price, you might be able to pick up a used Boss Katana Gen 3.

One thing I would recommend doing when you're looking at these digital amps with a lot of effects is to download the user manual and read through what it takes to configure a sound. Some of them are pretty straightforward, some of them are menu hell. A lot of the time there is some software that you can connect with and you might want to check out what people say about the software.

Having access to all of those tones with amp and speaker modeling is awesome, but only if you actually use those features.

I've gone through my fair share of small amps (Orange, VOX, Boss, Fender, etc) and I will say the absolute best tiny amp is the Fender Champion 2. It's surprising how nice it sounds. Gets loud too! It's my daily driver. I connect my Boss GTX-100 to it and can get all the times I want. When I just want to play with a simple blues driver or tube screamer, it also sounds good. Even the built in sounds are nice.

Orange has kind of a unique sound. Personally, I love it. Orange leans more heavy on the mids. Very colorful. A darker, crunchier sound, compared to something like Fender or Marshal.
