This 6 inch Vornado Pivot is a compact air circulator best suited to very close, targeted use on a desk, nightstand, or in a small room corner. It can help keep air moving in tight spaces, support HVAC mixing, and even keep aquarium water cooler without a chiller. The main limits are weak airflow at a distance, a short 6 foot cord, and noticeable noise. There is also a report of early failure and some uncertainty about the listed size.

  • The fan can help mix trapped air in small rooms and support HVAC by moving hot air toward the rest of the house.

    66Days

  • The fan can be useful for targeted spot cooling near a desk, PC, or other heat source rather than cooling an entire room.

    66Days

  • The fan may help keep marine aquarium water from overheating while costing less to run than a chiller.

    NathanM2186

  • The fan can be left running in small areas like bathrooms or electronics desks to keep air moving.

    psychism

  • The fan may barely move enough air for comfort beyond about 10 inches away from the unit.

    FrugalForeverKaijura

  • The fan can be too weak for effective use a few feet away unless it runs on full blast.

    Kaijura

  • The power cord can be only about 6 feet long, which limits placement options.

    jcmhi

  • The fan can fail quickly, including reports of it being dead already.

This is a great price. We just got ours "warrantied" by Vornado after a complete structural failure. The stress on the mount is a lot over time, with the button on top there..

Vornado told us they'd discontinued this fan, and offered a very reasonable credit with free shipping for any other fan we wanted.

Served us well. Easily the loudest fan we owned. $10 is a steal.

EDIT - ours was the slightly larger version.

I bought this last month for around $15 and returned this instantly to be replaced by a 20 inch box fan deal for just $5 more. I know it's not the same thing but the box fan was more versatile and better for my use case. My personal experience with a day of use with this - not much useful if you are more than 10 inches away from this fan.

Does the term "air circulator" seem superfluous before the word "fan"?

From the rest of the comments, no one is a "fan" of this air circulator. Also, yes.

I got one. It would be fine on a office desk or immediately next to you on a bed side stand but it's so small it's not really good at all if you are a few feet away from it without it on full blast.

I have the clamp-mount version of this, but in the larger size, attached to the headboard of m my bed. My wife sleeps hotter than I do, and this keeps her comfortable enough that she no longer cranks up the ceiling fan or air conditioning to the point that I wake up cold.

Great brand but this will only be useful on your nightstand. Nothing wrong with that, I prefer a tower fan.

It sounds like it but my view of them is "air circulator" normally means it has a quiet mode or is just quiet by default so doesn't bother you being left on 24/7. Like this fan is great to just leave on in a bathroom, kitchen, electronics desk, etc to just keep air moving in the area if you live in areas where bathrooms/counters/dishes etc will just stay wet otherwise. They are relatively stylish so look alright to leave anywhere all the time.
