I bought a case of these and found the cans are much smaller than I'm used to. These are not the 20 ounce cans I expected, but instead a squatty 15oz can. That significantly reduced the deal I thought I was getting - might still be decent, but compare at the per ounce price rather than a per can price.

That may be, but a deal is based on current market prices. I can tell you most supermarkets sell this same can for about $2.50-$3. So at $1.58 per can it's a great deal.
