Good deal in the current climate, and this deal is better for anyone doing content creation instead of or in addition to gaming, since in production tasks the Ultra 7 kicks the butt of any of the mainstream Ryzen chips in these <$2k prebuilts

Looks like a good deal, sum of parts alone comes to about the same. Be warned that HP purposely under locks cpu and ram, so you lose out on 10-15% of the theoretical max capacity without changing bios setting that void your warranty.

I've been buying refurb everything for years and never once had an issue. I wouldn't buy prebuilt without knowing the exact components first, but there's nothing wrong with refurb, especially with the 6 month warranty Amazon offers.

I've had GPU wear out and capacitors fail from use, motherboard components aren't really as stable as a CPU and RAM is.

Anyways, same build refurbished should be $600+ less to be even considered a deal.

not true; the Omen Gaming Hub software unlocks the ability to either use their "Peformance Control" and using the Extreme setting lets you crank up the processor, gpu and ram.

fyi, warranty is voided by amd/intel and nvidia if you tweak/overlock regardless - the disclaimer comes up when you use the their native apps (ryzen master, nvidia app, intel extreme tuning app). You can easily solve that by adding the 3 year warranty at checkout for $99 which breaks down to $2.75/mo if you're truly worried about jacking up a component.
