This looks to be the original 1.0 version. The 2.0 has some additional features, but the ice is the same.

Just a reminder to
1) use distilled water to extend the life and
2) get an extended warranty because it will fail

I got mine at best buy with extended warranty because the above poster is correct they WILL FAIL.
We are on our 3rd, but when they work man they are awesome.

My wife used to go to sonic daily, now she just uses this.
It has to be cleaned a few times a year and that is a bear, but again worth it.

Also be prepared to disassemble it for proper cleaning. Just do8ng the vinegar flush will NOT get all the crud out. There's and interior reservoir that gets nasty.

Totally agree, distilled water only. Like... never tap, never filtered, never spring. Distilled only. I bought one of the originals before GE acquired them, it lasted 18 months. The 2.0 version does work better, and is easier to keep clean, but I'm on my second one of those. My best buy total tech membership has paid for itself multiple times over.

People love this machine but hate the longevity which explains why people have refrigerators that break down all the time. It's the ice maker.

Mines been going great near daily usage for almost 2 years now. V2 is significantly better than the first version.

I bought the 2.0, which was also $120 off at Sam's but now out of stock. Could have gotten it slightly cheaper elsewhere, but since the listing said "return or replace anytime" I chatted with customer service who confirmed that this is considered a countertop appliance, not a major appliance. I asked if I could bring it back for a refund/replacement in 3-4 years and they said yes. Saved convo with rep for documentation, as I expect it will be needed.

I guess I must have lucked out. My V1 is 7 1/2 years old and still works like a charm.

You can often add a 3rd party warranty even from a Sam's purchase. I highly recommend doing so because this machine will fail.

I have the 1.0, which is different. This one is V1 of the 2.0 model. The newer V2 is smart connected. Not sure what else is different.

Mine is fine, but it's loud. I would suggest at minimum, using filtered refrigerator water, but even better, distilled water, which can get expensive.

And clean it regularly with vinegar.

These are impossible to clean well, if it doesn't stop working you will need to toss after 18 months because it will be overgrown with disgustingness.
