Unless you absolutely have to have a single unit, separate units are a much better idea in case anything breaks.

Was thinking that as I hear these combo units are a pain for both install/delivery and when a likely issue occurs.

Can't even get to the emergency release on my stacking washer/dryer without lifting the dryer off. And best of luck finding a replacement that will fit the mounting brackets and location on the unit you're keeping when the other fails. Which means you're practically doubling your chances of having to replace the set by buying a stacking unit.

There are not stackable/stacked units, it's one single machine with a washer at the bottom and dryer in top. All controls are accessible very easily. I have an LG version of this which I bought from Costco a year and a half ago. We only had enough space for this type of setup. . It has a heat pump ventless dryer and is absolutely fantastic. Of course, it's hard to say how long the thing will last but I have zero regrets so far

No issue with installation and delivery. The only drawback is if something common to both units breaks, you may have to replace the whole thing. I don't know if the units are designed with common components so it may be just a hypothetical concern

It is awful and not worth having! I paid $100 for a new ice maker and replaced it myself versus dealing with the ridiculous hoops I had to jump through before they would even send out a technician.

The two good things about the wash tower type units (vs stacking separate units):
1. controls in the center, which some short people appreciate
2. for serviceability, you don't have to unstack the top unit to get access to the bottom one, at least for some repairs. This is probably more important if you DIY.

They are delivered in separate boxes and put together kind of like separate units. In fact, they kind of are separate units functionally. We bought separate units, but I sometimes wonder if the combo would be better.
