I have zero need whatsoever for this (I have a TI-89 Titanium I haven't touched for over a decade), but I like the design of these and the fact that they're rechargeable/USB-C now.
Nice to see an old dog get a long overdue refresh, even if they still seem a bit overpriced - granted, it's 2026 now and $100 seems like a lot less money than it used to.

Evo was released just 3 months ago. Wish they update nspire with usb c.
The Evo is just an upgraded version. The user was asking about the redesign, as they switched from the bulky calculator look to a more modern appearance back in 2015.

Nah, I specifically stated 'refresh', which the Evo was - now with USB-C charging which is always nice to have... so we're all partially correct lol
...but yeah the major redesign which the EVO appears to share happened in 2015.
how they manage to sell a product to every single high school kid in America and somehow never change the price for 30 years is beyond me. 99% of kids will use this for basic arithmetic and none of the advanced functions.
I got a TI86 in 1997. Pretty sure it was roughly the same price.
Three cheers for standardization in textbooks. There's no way they can get away with charging this much for this long for mostly the same functionality otherwise.

Standardization & standardized teaching. A teacher trying to teach a class with a dozen different flavors of calculators that all function differently would be untenable... and with the advent of smartphones/smart devices with connectivity, it's a lot easier to 'cheat' than it is with a TI-84.
These definitely weren't required in high school when I went - only for those taking advanced classes. I'd only gotten one when I went to college.
On the plus side, $93 is a lot less valuable now than it was 20-30 years ago, so these have finally gotten cheaper!

Last night I was at Target, buying calculators for my twin daugthers going into 7th grade honors math. The teachers all teach with TI-84's. The black TI-84 Plus CE's were on sale for $95 and the newer, "USB-C and 3x faster processor, etc" EVO's in white and lavender were on sale for $105.
My gut was ABSOLUTELY telling me to just spend the extra $10 on the EVO, but Google A.I. said the older TI-84 Plus CE model was the "clear winner" for a 7th grade honors math student intending to keep the calculator all the way to high school calculus and beyond, mostly because one, there are incompatibility issues if you try to play games meant for a Plus CE on an EVO and two, the teacher is most likely going to teach from a Plus CE model and the students' learing will be slowed down if the buttons on the students' calculator aren't EXACTLY THE SAME as the buttons on the teacher's calculator.
So I pulled a George Costanza based on Google A.I.'s feedback and did the OPPOSITE of what my gut was telling me, and bought the girls Plus CE's.

The evo was just on sale at woot for $80, with regular price seemingly being $100 vs the MSRP $150; so not quite the deal IMO
