Does anyone know if there is a large difference in power or features when compared to the 2kW 18inch 80v saw that's on sale for $210? Other than the obvious 2 inch difference in the bar.

I have their smaller 20v saw and can use it for a quick drop of a tree, delimbing, and cut up in pieces and still have battery left. This is considerably heavier than my saw of theirs, I suspect it close to or heavier than an actual gas powered saw. If I had other 80v tools of theirs this would be a deal, but since only 20v will be happy with my current choice. It was on sale for around same price few months back.

I'm new to the cordless tools and are not tied to any battery system (24v, 60v etc), I'm wondering if a 80v system is a way to go? I'm looking for a battery operated chainsaw.

Thanks I just ordered one. I have a 4 year old 80V lawnmower, the battery still seems as good as on day one. I will probably resell the chainsaw, charger and my old battery to make back my little investment. I already have a chainsaw so I only got this for the battery

I read about a workaround to make them fit. I think the housing is slightly different. Google it, you will find an answer.

Ordered 2. One for pickup one to ship in case they run out of stock. The battery alone is worth it. Chainsaw not needed but don't mind keeping one

I have the GW 80v 18" chainsaw and it works great. It's heavy enough with the 2ah batteries that I've not used the 4ah with it. I'm not a tree guy and I don't heat my house with wood but for the occasional chainsaw work it's great. I don't miss gas saws with all of the carburetor trouble they give an occasional user...


I've not used anything less than 80v but maybe depends on what other battery tools you would intend to get. Not sure I'd want a less than 80v lawnmower for instance.


That said, I'm not in love with my GW mower simply because it's rear wheel drive. My gas self-propelled mower is front wheel drive which makes it much easier to turn around or even make 90 degree turns. That's the only thing I don't like about it though.

Would've been nice to get it before Friday as I have bulk pickup in my neighborhood but I'll make sure I got a giant pile for them next time. In for one. Earliest delivery July 31 or Pickup August 3rd. No same-day options in my area.

probably the 80 volt system is better but not by much from the tests i have seen. i use the 60 volt chain saw and is very good for what i need. it came with a 5 amp battery which is quite large and heavy.
