Rtings is possibly the best source of reviews for audio and video equipment. They might have some bias, although I can't confirm that, but they are renowned for being a great resource through utilizing a fairly quantitative approach to their methodology.

Are you aware they buy all the equipment and they test using accepted testing methodology and equipment that is used by calibrators and other professionals?

The only complaint I have heard is the paywall they just put up.

It is true they have affiliate links to purchase so that could be a point of contention about bias.

My brother picked up this system a few days ago before this sale. I recommended the AX700 to him, due to my positive experience with the older AX5125H model that I'm currently using . He's really happy with it and was able to get a price adjustment from Costco. Couldn't pass this up for the price, so I picked up one up. I'll update once I get it up and running. I'll be testing it with BR remux files that include the better audio codecs with my Shield Pro that supports lossless audio, and comparing it to the AX5125H.

I held up buying this model because an HDMI input was an absolute requirement for me, and couldn't find a review to confirm that it has one. I unboxed it, and I can confirm that it does have an HDMI input port.

The Hisense AX700 is a strong budget 5.1.4 soundbar with wireless subwoofer support, best at turning basic TV speakers into a much fuller home theater setup for under $200. The sound quality is repeatedly described as impressive for the price, setup is easy, and the HDMI input is confirmed. The main knocks are inconsistent dialogue and occasional cutouts, including rear speakers or sub connections briefly dropping out, plus some LG OLED remote quirks and little evidence of firmware support. It looks like a compelling value if you can tolerate a few bugs.

I have one for one of my tv setups. It's very good for a cheap soundbar. Probably the best soundbar you can get under $300 brand new.

I bought this one recently but have not opened it. I did quite a bit of research and I agree that for this price point it is unbeatable. However, I am probably going to return mine and step up to the Samsung q990, which can be found using the AAA discount with Samsung for $800. A significant step up in price but also based on my research, in performance. One gripe that some people have with the Hisense is dialogue volume - being able to hear the voices without having to crank up the volume so sound effects are overbearing. However I did read a review or two or somebody thought it worked well. Maybe someone that has this specific soundbar can comment.

This review from Rtings is for the very similar Hisense AX5140Q.

I bought one full price for my bedroom thinking it would be fine and ended up repacking it and returning it. The bass was very lackluster and when you controlled the volume through the TV it would sometimes lag behind the button press and sound would go up too high or too low. you'd have to wait for it to catch up. Like the soundbar earc wasn't communicating fast enough or something. I bought the q990 off Amazon instead. Way higher price point but worth the sound quality.

I had issues with this where it would randomly disconnect and reconnect/reboot the satellite and sub connection so it would mute for a second or two. It was frequent and annoying enough that we returned it.

I find them to be suspicious, I believe they are biased and are incentivized to lean more favorably towards manufactures and products the benefit them financially or otherwise.

This seems like a pretty sweet deal for a decent budget surround soundbar setup. For under $200, this is great for improving crappy built in speakers.

I currently use a stereo pair of homepod minis I picked up off ebay. The sounds is significantly better than my Hisense u7 tv speakers, and gets wide stereo separation than a soundbar. You can get a a couple preowned homepod minis for under $70 off ebay currently. For me, this is good enough.

But if your don't already have homepods, or want a subwoofer and/or surround sound on a budget, I think the op deal will be hard to pass up.

I use two HomePod mini but they are horrible for TVs and not comparable to any of the soundbar. If you want to use HomePod mini, you also need to use Apple TV.
