Edit: Amazon should provide a software update for Kindles that have built-in Bluetooth to work with remotes without the awkward clip-on, instead of being poopy heads [reddit.com].

I know! It's such a no brainer but they haven't done it.
As to the reason I use it is due to the distance I need the reader to be for clarity even with my glasses. It also allows me to leave my hands in my lap when I am flying while the kindle is on the drop down table. I tend to read for 45-90 minutes every morning as part of my daily routine.
It is way more convenient to use when you read for awhile to be able to move your hands and arms.
