Dell's 32 inch UltraSharp 6K monitor stands out as a sharp, high pixel density office and creative display with useful extras like a webcam, speakers, KVM, Ethernet, and strong Mac friendly one cable convenience. The 6K resolution makes text and spreadsheets look noticeably cleaner, and the price is being framed as unusually strong for this class. The main tradeoffs are the 60 hertz refresh rate, which feels dated for gaming, and some setup quirks around scaling, cable length, and input quality. A few reports also raise concerns about panel uniformity and ghosting, so it fits best as a productivity focused screen.

  • The monitor can deliver sharp image quality and strong webcam, audio, and port coverage at the stated price.

  • The monitor can produce noticeably sharper visuals even when scaling is enabled.

  • The 6K 32-inch resolution can feel like a meaningful upgrade for long coding sessions.

  • The monitor can support high-quality 6K@60Hz video when using HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 2.1 sources.

  • The 6K display can help produce rounder fonts for daily productivity use.

  • The 60Hz refresh rate can feel slow after using a high-refresh-rate monitor.

  • The monitor can show scaling problems with 6K, including incorrect behavior in some image viewers and older Photoshop plugins.

  • The included miniDP cable can be too short, requiring a longer cable for setup.

  • Some units can exhibit uneven color or brightness, including darker sides and a pinkish center.

  • Fast-moving scenes can show black residual or ghosting trails that may indicate a bad unit.

The only way to ensure/prioritize the highest video quality at 6k @ 60Hz with the Dell U3224KB is to connect the display via:
  • HDMI to an HDMI 2.1 capable source
  • DisplayPort to a DisplayPort 2.1 capable source
Note that using the USB-C connection leaves the user stuck with DisplayPort 1.4 (aka DP AltMode 1.4). This bandwidth limitation forces the implementation of DisplayPort's Display Stream Compression (DSC). DSC is lossless compression (read: imperceptible), but it is compression nonetheless. The other scenario which may force the implementation of DSC is if you connect a second display in a daisy chain configuration through this monitor.

For many users, using the USB-C connection and employing DSC will be an imperceptible difference from HDMI or native DisplayPort and provide significant convenience (notably, one cable connectivity for some laptops). However, it is important to consider that this convenience does come with a trade-off.

Good luck!
Jon

I just got this one from Costco. I noticed that my Dell U3224KB monitor has black residual/ghosting trails when displaying fast-moving scenes. Even watching any 4K content on YouTube I can easily see them. How can I fix this? Or is it just the unit I purchased is bad?

Did you confirm your current refresh rate?

Good luck!
