Sadly this is a great deal. CL30 RAM is the sweet spot for AM5. Same price as MC if you value the AIO at $50.

Supposedly prices are only going to get worse in the near term.

I keep evaluating deals based on what I remember from 2 years ago. We should really be thinking about deals in the context of whether we expect prices to go up or down over the next 6-12 months.

It seems like a very good deal. This mentality how I ended up with my AM4 build right when AM5 was kicking off because DDR5 systems were still very expensive and we just got off the GPU apocalypse. I did not know 3 years later this may end up being my last PC that was not prohibitively expensive to build.

The memory cartel/AI collusion is vastly, significantly far worse. it does not seem like anybody at the top cares one bit that this hurts an entire industry sectors from home computing, schools , businesses and manufactures that need hardware components and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

I got my system at Microcenter for $400. Someone has the exact ram kit for $40, which I have also in my system. But that was like 2 years ago. I don't see that happening again. But it great. I have 64 of ram using all 4 slots without any issues. Now that the gpus are going to be more I am not going to upgrade for the next 5 years. Got a 5080 with it as well. It sucks the gamers are getting the worst end of the Ai but once it bursts we should see better deals.

Genuine question. If people have paid elevated prices for products for years, what incentive does a producer have to lower prices at some point in the future?

If people keep paying $7 a pound for ground beef and the ranchers finally feel like they are making a good living why would they alter their current state?

There's no incentive for a competitor in the same field to come in and be a low margin supplier when people are already conditioned to pay the elevated price.

Im curious what others think. Thanks

The analogy you used doesn't quite work for a couple of reasons. First, the barrier to entry vastly different in terms of other entrepreneur entering and trying to get in on that profit taking. Second, we can live with out beef, sure some people that refuse to eat a vegetable might kick over out of sheer ignorance but yes we could survive.
Memory is not like that. And is a reason there must be intervention from the government. Unfortunately this administration is perfectly fine with and enabling this grift. Memory in a digital society is absolutely required. The barrier to entry is so high that it's effectively a guarantee monopoly now as because any competition was killed off the last time the industry colluded (elpeda).

Great CPU -- I have this one, but about to upgrade it. Only buy this if you need all the parts, or can sell some off easily.

This deal breaks down as follows:

* AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D - low price (Microcenter) $300, but almost never under $320 and currently $329

* GIGABYTE B650E Eagle Mobo - probably around $80 in a bundle but it's currently $150 on Amazon

* 32GB Corsair DDR5 - this was $100 before our current nonsense, but over $400 now 😢

* AIO Cooler - $40 on Amazon

So a solid $160 and maybe even $200 savings.
