It's a Daylite 26+6 with the major differences of:
- ripstop water resistant material (this is huge)
- dedicated laptop pouch (good; keeps it dry when you need to access the main compartment)
- full yoke strap (works for me; YMMV)
- centered side handle for side carry (but you lose a water bottle holder; given I rarely side carry, I would have preferred a second water bottle holder)
When comparing the two bags:
- The MSRP delta is $65 ($110 vs $175) or 1.6X more
- The sale delta is $65 ($65 vs $130) or 2.0X more
My take: if you think you'll be outdoors in heavy rain for hours, and would consider getting a $30 rain cover, spend the extra $35 and get the Transporter. If you're a fair weather traveler, or will be using the 26+6 as your onebag, and have a separate daypack for when you arrive, then save your money and get the regular 26+6.
I'm biased since I loathe rain covers, as a proper one costs $30-$35, it's a pain to deploy, blocks access to the bag, and has to be wiped down and dried before stowing or it gets disgusting.
Probably for the better... I have a bit too many bags...
santookie makes a good point about stains -- I've been fortunate enough to not have any spills over the years, but a bag that lives under a seat every flight is bound to get liquids on it from above at some point unless it's water-resistant, so that's another plus for the Transporter.
