Yes, I bought this a few weeks ago and ran Qwen3 30b a3b locally. I ended up returning though because I didn't like the MS Surface-like kickstand--it ate into my experience of the portability. And it still got pretty hot--probably unavoidable in that small a case.

https://discuss.huggingface.co/t/...llm/174730 has some good advice. This is an awesome machine for the right person. If I still gamed, I'd probably have kept this. Keep in mind that up to 75% of the VRAM can be dedicated to GPU in Armoury, so you could in theory run a LLM locally with up to 48gb, leaving only 16gb for system memory--probably not ideal. A full system reboot is necessary to change that setting.

I bought one of these open box for $1800 from Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and returned it because the wifi card was broken. Really cool machine, but it's got a lot of reports of WiFi issues in them so be aware. I did all the driver updates, Windows updates and every other trick you could find online. It's def worth the money if you get a good one, just make sure you stress test it within the return window

It's lpddr5x 8000. It's certainly slower than desktop ram or a dgx spark or mac, but it's also half the price

Depends what you're using it for. This runs 30b models no issue. Also know that amd ROCm support is behind, so image generation stuff isn't great.

Wifi card is also soldered to the board on this model, so you're stuck with the mediatek wifi card that has all sorts of reports of being largely hot garbage.

you mean it is certainly faster than desktop (ddr5) ram? it is about as fast as apple m-pro processors; 60% slower than m-max processors, and definitely faster than apple regular m processors.

meanwhile this is the fastest wifi 7 device i own. zero issues pushing sustained 2gbps up and down on a 2.5gbps connection

Yes I have the first gen the kickstand is my biggest complain. It's basically impossible to be used as a "lap-top".

This highlights one of the biggest issues with mediatek wifi cards, the inconsistency. I've had devices with rock solid mediatek chips and ones that would drop all the time.

Sometimes it's the card itself, sometimes it's poor device design with improper cooling, sometimes it's just bad drivers. Not that Intel wifi chips never have problems, but they're way more consistent and stable in their performance.
