Cyberpunk 2077 is a story rich open world RPG shooter that shines most for its Night City atmosphere, strong lore, and Phantom Liberty expansion. The Ultimate Edition gets the most praise, with Dogtown and the DLC arc described as taking the game to another level through branching choices, immersive cutscenes, and a memorable ending path. Mod support also adds visual upgrades and extra story or gameplay tweaks. The main caveat is that combat and missions can feel repetitive or tedious over time, and the base story does not land for everyone. A solid pick if the genre and expansion appeal to you.
Common Questions (5)
At $17.99, the base game is widely treated as a strong buy if you like open-world RPG/FPS games, with the world, story, graphics, and build customization standing out. Some players still find the combat or pacing tedious after a while, so it fits best if you enjoy exploration, side quests, and story-driven play.
The Ultimate Edition is the better pick if you want the full experience, because Phantom Liberty is repeatedly described as taking the game to another level and adding a major Dogtown storyline. The bundle is also noted as feeling steep compared with the $18 base game, so it makes the most sense if you know you want the expansion too.
Phantom Liberty adds a major branching story in Dogtown, an epic ending sequence, and more reason to keep playing after the main game. It is described as making the game feel like it opens up and reaches a higher level, especially for players who want a strong narrative.
Yes. Graphics mods can make the game look visually stunning, and there are also mods for extended storylines, gameplay upgrades, and more violent kill effects. A supportive mod community is specifically mentioned as a reason the PC version can be especially appealing.
Yes, if you like exploring, collectibles, and side quests, it can support very long runs, with one player putting in 222 hours in a single playthrough. The main story can get convoluted, but the named character quests, build customization, and combat depth are praised as strong reasons to keep going.

My PC is running 270K + 9060XT.
When I do get back into it, wonder which version would be more enjoyable.
This is one of the few games worth the $33. Oddly enough I couldn't get into the Witcher for the life of me (or Baldur's Gate/Elden Ring), but I'm gonna give it another go to see if I can get into that genre and move on to Skyrim before GTA6 drops.
