I'd pay $40 more for the 3S Pro. I had the opportunity to try out the 3S/3S Pro/4 Rpo, and for me the 3S Pro was the sweet spot.

If you're not familiar with these types of glasses, they are display glasses that connect over USB C, just like the portable monitors. So your devices have to be compatible with USB C with Alt DP.

Note: For the Nintendo Switch 1/2 you need special charging adapters to play on the glasses as Nintendo uses a proprietary protocol.

Also note that if you intend to watch 3D content on it you need to have 3D FSBS/HSBS files. The glasses want FSBS, but with VLC media player on iOS/Android, and PotPlayer on Windows you can watch HSBS files on the glasses in full screen 3D.

Also note that so far none of the Pixel phones are compatible with 3D although they work for general use with the glasses.

Now for the differences between the 3 models I mentioned.

3S (current post):
Very decent glasses. A lot of people like the hardshell case. There are some issues with internal reflections, and corners of the screen can get cut off. But can be doable for a decent amount of people.

3S Pro:
Very little internal reflections. Screen fits into view very easily. Slightly uncomfortable on right side arm after a little while. Comes with a cloth case that I personally like a lot, but many people seem to dislike.

4 Pro:
OSD menu is a little better. Comes with HDR compatibility, but kind of useless on phones if you're trying to get true HDR. Your host device has to support it. AI HDR can be an enjoyable gimmick. Same cloth case. Very difficult to get all four corners in view. Many people in the community have resorted to nosepad modifications to get it to work. For some people it seems to be fine though. Not for me unfortunately. The RayNeo app is not needed, but with the 4 Pro if you want to try out their experimental AI 2D to 3D video conversion I think you need the 4 Pro. But otherwise there's not too much that's different.

So my personal recommendation is the 3S Pro.

Thanks for the detailed information. I tried the 4 Pro (and have never tried any other version or brand of these types of glasses) and it was so underwhelming. The lower 5% - 10% was cut off, they made my ears feel hot afterwards, and instead of feeling like I was watching a 202" screen, it felt like I was watching a 40" tv from 10 feet away. I *really* wanted to like these, but they would have to work hard to be meh. I feel now like all of the glowing reddit posts about the 4 Pro are just shill posts and there are more negative, neutral aspects than wow-positive ones.

Yes. You can get prescription lenses from somewhere like HonsVR. But without them, depending on how severe your prescription is, you won't be able to see clearly.

Idk about the ear thing, but the lower part being cutoff makes sense. They include other nose pieces to help you adjust. But if your IPD (interpupillary distance) is not in the ideal range, then it's very hard to get perfect.

For the screen size a couple things matter. One is what you're connecting. If it's your phone, then the phone can limit the screen size due to having a different aspect ratio. Also mobile apps for tv shows and movies can be formatted in a way that looks small even when enlarged.

Better way to watch is to connect to a laptop, or if you have a Samsung phone, connect in DeX mode. DeX mode apps use the full screen and reformat the TV apps to have subtitles not take up such a large part of the screen. On iPhones connect over wired airplay.

The other thing is sitting in front of a wall at a far enough distance like you would for a tv. When there's some light and you can see the wall a bit, you can feel the effect.

There are exceptions and some people cannot see this illusion so it ruins the experience for them.

I usually don't feel the 200 in thing though. In my experience it's more like between 80-120 in depending on where I'm watching. Occasionally like 32 inches if I'm too close to something.

Giving it a try. Should be fun with the switch - although you need the battery accessory. Thanks OP!

Thoughts on the Viture Pro Xr for $144 vs RayNeo Air 3S Pro for $185?I just bought the viture and I can't get the screen in frame. The bottom's always cut off and the closest I can get it to work properly is by using the nose guard attachment which brings my eyes too close to the screen, causing the eyelashes to rub. Any insights would be appreciated.

If the Pro XR works for you it's pretty good. I've tried it and had similar issues. I could get it almost perfect with the gripless nosepad, but some light padding on my nose would've been perfect. Worked better when I tried using it lying down.

It's very close to the 3S Pro. The RayNeo screen is slightly bigger. Other than that not much difference. You don't have a menu on the Viture glasses, but the functions are mostly the same. I think to switch to 120Hz mode you need to use Spacewalker on your phone or Windows. But phones don't support 120Hz output anyway.

Thanks, appreciate it. No spacewalks required for 120hz on laptop. One thing I think is going for Viture is the one-click lens dimming instead of a lens cover. Didn't see that on the RayNeo. Dang, just wish the glass was a hair bigger. I think I'll return these and wait for the tech to catch up

Yeah the dimming is cool. If you're able to return it then maybe do that and get the RayNeo. Or there's the new XReal XBX that's supposed to be cheap, though more expensive than this. RayNeo is also coming out with the GT Max.

There's other cool glasses but they cost a lot more.

Man I would love to try those xbx's just on the simple basis of their weight. I use the Vitures as my steam deck monitor since the deck's lcd won't turn on. Plugged in the Viture and problem solved but after thinking this quirky method might be a better cost than an lcd screen replacement, it's just got its own quirks. The screen cutoffs, the brow heat, the reflection of my belly in the glass when I wear a white T....oooofAll this to deal with a headache steam deck. I bet those Xbx glasses do the trick with the weight and heat dissipation but I'm not prepared right now to drop $300.

Ahh. Your other option might be to get a 50 dollar portable monitor. You just lose some mobility.

Hey man I had time to sleep on it and now I'm thinking about making some bad choices. What about the Luma Pro on eBay for $245 before tax. Watched a couple reviews and the main takeaways were that the frames sit a bit further than the xr pros, it's 1200p vs the 1080, and the fov is larger than the pros. So that means the luma pros refurbished are about $80 more than the RayNeo air 3S pros but $20 cheaper than the new xbx'sOh yea and they make the luma pros in a regular or a large?! Should I just go with large , doesn't that mean larger glass for the screen to display on?

In terms of size, the M and L refer to the frame size. So for larger heads. The Pro XR's running small was one of the many complaints.

Idk if people can actually see properly with any of the Luma series. At 1200p being even taller, the top or bottom portion gets cut off for most of the posts I've seen.

The display is among the best from what I've heard though in terms of brightness, color and sharpeness.

If you went with the XBX, the screen is larger than the RayNeo but less sharp. Though the larger fov is supposed to feel more immersive. Sharpness I mean in terms of text. It doesn't have 3dof like the One series, but stabilization for quick head movement. And they are the lightest.

At your current budget I wouldn't say it's worth it. And the Luma might not be worth the risk. Unless you can go to Best buy first and are able to try them out. They've been showing up in displays now. If it's a match only then is it worth it.

Otherwise keep the Pro XR or switch to the 3S Pro. Currently there are trade offs at every pricing level. The Luma was supposed to be where Viture blew away the competition, but in their rush I think they messed up the execution just enough to make them hit or miss.

I didn't get much sleep so I went ahead and made some new decisions. I got fed up so hard that I returned the pro xr's, bought the RayNeo 3s from Best Buy and then went back and returned those and then bought a viture pro dock cuz for some unnecessary subliminally intrusive marketing ploy, I've decided that I'm gonna eventually buy one of these, just doesn't seem to hit the spot just right...right now. The dock was on sale so my duma$$y ass went ahead and pulled the trigger on Amazon.
I'm thinking the sweet spots around $260 for the XBX's by Christmas time. Yea I can wait til then with a pro dock carefully stashed in its rightful place in a drawer somewhere I'll never remember
