I noticed this last week in store. I was considering it. Does this need to fed by a garden hose to use the misting feature or can I put the hose on fan in a bucket or similar and it sucks the water? My thoughts was get some fittings and use water bottles, but was not sure if it was capable of drawing fluid.

I have the bucket top version and it's portable, or can connect to the hose if needed. This one apparently only connects to the hose, greatly limiting portability IMHO. The bucket version does a good job of getting everything wet including me, so I'll keep it. If I needed a larger fan then maybe it would be a different situation, but I like the portability with the bucket.

BTW, thanks for the post. Good catch on the deal.

Yes just saw this at a friend's house set up over a bucket exactly like you said. He filled it with ice too so it was a nice cool mist

There seems to be a hybrid (electric plug OR 18V) version (this one), and a battery-only version that's made for the bucket top too.
This hybrid version is more expensive.

The bucket one is also a smaller fan 8" If I'm not mistaken this is 12"

For this price I'd recommend instead grabbing a factory reconditioned ($79.00) or blemished ($89.00) bucket fan instead from Direct Tools Factory. They are slightly smaller 8 inches versus 12, but IMO much more usable because they can feed from a bucket or really any container of water as well as a water hose feed. I use mine at my kids' sports on the field and it's perfect for that. Plus, the ones from Direct Tools are a kit, so it comes with a battery, and charger. As far as the size goes, the 8-inch fan pushes the mist out pretty far, I'd say it's really effective between 10-14 feet away, any closer and it does tend to soak you because the mist isn't very fine.

The one posted here cannot be used with a bucket. I just picked one up, only works with a hose.

I just ordered this one, the bucket top misting fan. It can be fed from a hose or a bucket. I paid $49 it is listed at $59 now. Haven't used it. Will be delivered today. I believe the bucket top one is quite a bit smaller than the fan in the listing. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI.../321851611

I use the 12" misting air cannon and the 7" bucket top fans frequently at work and prefer the bucket top fans for the convenience. Also the misting air cannon will drain your batteries quickly. The misting air cannon is frequently under $100 during sales at Direct Tools Outlet. Better deal right now is the bucket top two pack for $89 from Home Depot.

Just bought this also. Waisted 25 min outside in 100 degree heat.
I tried a 2 liter bottle upside down even and no luck.
Probably gong to return. The water from the hose is already too warm.

I have both this one and the bucket one. I prefer the one not listed here because you can put it on a bucket that has water and ice and really get it cold.

For this one listed - if your hose water is already warm you're just misting yourself with warmth.
