The Winix C610 is a compact air purifier that does a solid job clearing smoke, odors, and other indoor air, with auto mode reacting to VOCs and a filter that can last a long time. It can move a lot of air, especially on higher settings, and Wi Fi scheduling lets it run hard while you are away. The main drawback is noise, since turbo is very loud and some units develop squeaking or bearing problems over time. Filter sourcing also looks less convenient than on the larger C909, which uses easier to find standard A filters.
Common Questions (5)
Some units develop squeaking or whining from fan bearings, sometimes within months, while others run for years without issues. Turbo is especially loud, and the noise can be annoying enough that it's hard to use in the same room.
The C610 is reported to move very little air on the lower speeds and to feel effective mainly on Turbo. Turbo can be extremely loud, so many people use Wi‑Fi scheduling to run it hard when away and keep it quieter the rest of the time.
It is reported to make indoor air more manageable during smoke and bad air, and it also works well in a bedroom or small home office. Auto mode can ramp up when VOCs like IPA are detected, and the filter is reported to last a long time.
Yes. Refurbished C610 units are reported at about $59.99 to $60 plus tax with free shipping on Winix's site, though one refurbished order included only one filter.
The 710 is described as the replacement model, with a PM sensor instead of a VOC sensor and the same filter. The 610 is still seen at some Costco locations, but the 710 is showing up at full price in others.

This model does come on sale for the same price, both in-warehouse and online with $5 shipping, so if you wait it might come on sale for you to have shipped to you. It is funny that the normal sale price doesn't attract attention, but as soon as it's on clearance for the same price, a deal becomes popular. Same thing happens at my local Costco as well, people see clearance and they jump.

These too? I have 5 of the box shaped Winix and 1 of them has lasted a long time no issues, one makes only a little noise, one is loud, and two scream 😂 I was hoping the cylinder style would hold up better. I saw that people do the fan bearings with soldering just haven't got around to trying that.
Never again

Also the flow rates of the C610 is weird that until you put it to the highest level, it doesn't much that much air, on the lower settings. The C909 moves a lot more air (granted bigger) at level 2 and 3 compared to the C610 which I found only moved air on the turbo setting. That said, this is $100, but I ended up returning the one I had for the C909 and have zero regrets paying the extra money upfront given filters over the lifetime would be cheaper on the C909.
