The Winix C610 is a compact air purifier that does a solid job clearing smoke, odors, and other indoor air, with auto mode reacting to VOCs and a filter that can last a long time. It can move a lot of air, especially on higher settings, and Wi Fi scheduling lets it run hard while you are away. The main drawback is noise, since turbo is very loud and some units develop squeaking or bearing problems over time. Filter sourcing also looks less convenient than on the larger C909, which uses easier to find standard A filters.

Common Questions (5)

  • Some units develop squeaking or whining from fan bearings, sometimes within months, while others run for years without issues. Turbo is especially loud, and the noise can be annoying enough that it's hard to use in the same room.

  • The C610 is reported to move very little air on the lower speeds and to feel effective mainly on Turbo. Turbo can be extremely loud, so many people use Wi‑Fi scheduling to run it hard when away and keep it quieter the rest of the time.

  • It is reported to make indoor air more manageable during smoke and bad air, and it also works well in a bedroom or small home office. Auto mode can ramp up when VOCs like IPA are detected, and the filter is reported to last a long time.

  • Yes. Refurbished C610 units are reported at about $59.99 to $60 plus tax with free shipping on Winix's site, though one refurbished order included only one filter.

  • The 710 is described as the replacement model, with a PM sensor instead of a VOC sensor and the same filter. The 610 is still seen at some Costco locations, but the 710 is showing up at full price in others.

So you have to go to a dying warehouse to get this price?
Yeah you should keep shopping at Walmart and stay away from Costco

Probably has bearing issue like the 5510 and older. Two 5510 out of box had the issue. Never buying winix again

At one Costco, I saw the 610 for $100 (assume orig price was $130). But at 2 other Costcos, I saw full-priced ($130) 710s --- so there's a newer model out there at full price? Not sure what the difference is, but the box and everything looks very similar to the 610.

Not sure I'd call Costco a dying warehouse...it's possible the insane growth of the past is slowing a smidge, but who knows my Costco stock hasn't dropped drastically.

Anyways, Winix C610 deal dead, at least online. Seeing it for $130 right now.

Yup coming back to this, 710 is replacing it, has a PM sensor instead of VOC which makes sense and imo better, and apparently the same filter. Although I prefer the looks of the 610 will be returning it when the 710 goes on sale (hopefully soon)
