The Winix C610 is a compact air purifier that does a solid job clearing smoke, odors, and other indoor air, with auto mode reacting to VOCs and a filter that can last a long time. It can move a lot of air, especially on higher settings, and Wi Fi scheduling lets it run hard while you are away. The main drawback is noise, since turbo is very loud and some units develop squeaking or bearing problems over time. Filter sourcing also looks less convenient than on the larger C909, which uses easier to find standard A filters.

  • The C610 can move a lot of air when running at higher settings.

  • The purifier can make indoor air more manageable during smoke or bad air periods.

  • Auto mode can ramp the fan when VOCs are detected, which helps during chemical exposure.

  • Wi‑Fi programming can run Turbo briefly while away and then return to auto to reduce constant noise.

  • The fan bearings can fail quickly and produce an annoying whining noise.

  • Turbo mode can be extremely loud, making it hard to run in the same room.

  • Some units can squeak or develop humming on low, which can prevent using auto mode.

  • Filter sourcing and airflow on lower settings can be less favorable than the C909, with air movement mainly on turbo.

These Winix C610 have less than ideal filter material (thinner) and less ease of finding 3rd party filter replacement. Costco still sells the C909, which is larger granted and usually $160 on sale, but the C909 uses standard "A" style filters which are easy to 3rd party filters on. Also the flow rates of the C610 is weird that until you put it to the highest level, it doesn't much that much air, on the lower settings. The C909 moves a lot more air (granted bigger) at level 2 and 3 compared to the C610 which I found only moved air on the turbo setting. That said, this is $100, but I ended up returning the one I had for the C909 and have zero regrets paying the extra money upfront given filters over the lifetime would be cheaper on the C909.
And keep in mind that this thing sounds like a jet engine running on Turbo. It's so loud. You're never going to want to run it that high when you're in the same room.

That's literally the point of the wifi programming options. You can easily program it to run on turbo for an hour or two when youre not even home, and return to auto the rest of the time, so you have the benefit of high volume filtration with no noise or hassle.

These too? I have 5 of the box shaped Winix and 1 of them has lasted a long time no issues, one makes only a little noise, one is loud, and two scream 😂 I was hoping the cylinder style would hold up better. I saw that people do the fan bearings with soldering just haven't got around to trying that.
Going to disagree with the other guy. I tend to need to replace the 545s every 2-3 years for that issue. I did it with one of these most recently and it didnt last a year. Swapped it out for a 909 this time.

Generic filters for the C610 are around 2 for $30 on Amazon and I'm guessing we'll see even better prices as the C610 gets more popular.

To be clear, all Winix devices are like loud as F on the Turbo mode, with the C610 being no exception. That's why it was frustrating how poor the other fans speeds were at moving air on the C610 and why I returned it for the C909.

Decent deal. FYI I think these are still on sale refurbished for $59.99 on Winix website. I just got one delivered last weekend. Only came with the one filter though.
I've ordered 4 total now refurbished from Winix directly and they all appear to be brand new.

Just 70 billion total revenue compared to 500 billion for Walmart? I cant imagine such huge difference.

I don't know what time period you're referring to, but I was referring to the most recent quarterly report from Costco.

For Walmart, most recent quarterly report was $177.8 billion with $117.2B of that from Walmart's US stores, $35.1B from international Walmarts, and a mere $23.4B from Sam's.

But you have to keep in mind that Costco only has about 900 stores total, where Walmart has nearly 11,000 with about 4,500 of those being in the US, 5,800 international stores and 600 Sam's Club stores.

That said it's pretty impressive that annually Costco does about 40% of the Walmart's revenue while having just 8.5% of the number of stores.

oh, quarterly! I thought that was annual. Makes more sense now

Got astounded by the stated 5800 int stores. Like when how? quick search yielded that most of them are Mexico and are under a different name, they just bought out a chain there, not really Walmart

These go on sale every couple of month at this price. Bought one a year ago and it's pretty good but not as good as the Shark one I picked up on clearance from Costco, which put out A LOT more air at a slower and quieter speed. The Shark also claims no filter change needed for 5 years. Not sure how that's gonna hold out though.

The noise at turbo speed (level 4) on the 610 is so annoying that you literally have to yell to speak to someone.

Have had this one for 9 months so far with no issues, would buy again. It works well for my needs (Small home office / project space with 3d printers). Mostly hums away on low, but I programmed it to run at a higher speed for a couple hours each day while I'm asleep/away. Auto mode ramps the fan up when I use IPA nearby, so it does detect at least some VOC's.

I added an additional carbon filtration to mine with loose activated carbon pellets in a holder just below the fan (similar to this, but my own design I haven't uploaded yet https://www.printables.com/model/...bon-filter). Did this to help deal with fumes from SLA printing resins.
