I drove all the way to Alaska with a truck bed tent. From Ohio. I had a brand name tent. But it folded perfectly under my tonneau cover.

Serious question but why this over a standalone tent? I assume you're still pitching this where it's ok to camp?

It's not a bad idea if you are going to be anywhere that is particularly rocky, or some other corner cases.

I had one of these on my old Colorado 6ft bed and that is probably as small as I would go. You need to fit an inflatable mattress in the bed. The ones that go into the tailgate (https://a.co/d/0i2aefki) will be tight as these type of tents use the tailgate area as an entrance. Otherwise your feet are dangling. I opted for a regular ground tent with newer truck and 5ft bed. Really did like the truck tent better. They are super easy to set up as well.

After doing some research and reading the reviews on eBay and other sites, if you have a Ram crew cab with the full 6.3' bed, go up to the 6.4 - 6.7 size. The fiberglass one is $99.

Being in a truck bed makes you much more exposed to the wind than you are in a ground tent. The tent itself gets loud if there's much wind at all. If there's no chance of rain you might be happier without a tent. And the air moving under the truck bed keeps it cool all night. That can be great in the summer but brutal in winter: I highly recommend an air mattress and several layers of blankets (moving blankets are fine) to insulate you from the bed below.
