I got this promotion a couple years ago. Then they raised my $50 rate for 1gig to $60. Can I cancel, sign up for this with a different account, all at the same address, and still qualify?

There is 1300' between me and never paying another bill for Cox but AT&T/quantum refuse to go that extra little distance.

In the past, I've just canceled and then wife would just sign up and get the promos. We just organize it so that the disconnect date is the day after the reconnect date so there's a few hours of no internet. This year, we talked to the cancelation people (customer retention?) and the person just lowered our bill from 90$/mo to $40 a month for 2 years.

I wish they were more reasonable than Comcast (2010 me would slap me for saying that). I ended up with the 5 year deal on Comcast after AT&T would not price match them...or even get remotely close to their price. Both have their plus and minus in my area.

Is you call the AT&T support, tell the automated phone system you want "loyalty" department. That is the key word... They might drop your existing bill. (Work Comcast/Xfinity it's "retention").

Did ask for loyalty dept, they dropped itl from $93 to $87 for 1000mbps, LOL. Used to be $50 while back. So signed up for xfinity. BUT, ATT has 10 times better upload speed.

All this talk of having to play with the "loyalty" departments of all these ISPs just makes me want to continue to pay my $70 a month to Google Fiber. That rate hasn't changed for like 14 years now and I've never had to contact Google for anything; it just works.

PSA: If you are currently paying over $30/mo for att fiber gig internet, you can give the ATT loyalty line a call (@ 800.331.0500), and notify them that you are considering cancelling ATT internet service to switch to another service provider offering a better monthly price for the same internet speeds. I saw this offer in store when I went to upgrade my phone ~2 months ago - I told the rep we were paying almost $100/mo. for the exact service, and I was told they could apply the offer to my existing account. Instead of having the agent apply the promo in store, I called loyalty line and within five minutes my monthly bill was dropped $70/mo without having to agree to a contracted term. 0 hassle. Give it a try!

See my comment! You can call loyalty and they'll drop the price without requiring you to make any changes to your existing account. No need to cancel or sign up with a different account to receive a monthly price reduction!🙌

It was actually a fairly hassle free call when I did it. Quick pick up by an actual human who was unusually kind, understanding, quick to act, and a native English speaker.

Did this a month ago. Process: Sign-up using your spouces information with a connect date at least one week out, morning appointment to limit downtime.
When you sign-up, you'll get a call (<24 hours for me) confirming your existing service will be disconnected the night before.
From there, my existing account was disconnected about 1am the day of the new service being installed. Mine was not self install, maybe because I was increasing speed - tech came out, swapped modems, changed the port in their box, ran the tests, and left.

Basically setup new service with spouces info 7+ days out and the cancellation of your existing service will happen without hassle.

Will they raise the $90 sub after 12 months? Does it require an equipment fee for new sub?
