I think you'd be better off spending an extra $700 and getting the Intel Ultra 7 version. Snapdragon latest doesn't have the greatest reviews and loses to the Ultra 7 Series 2.

Loses how? Apparently snapdragon is more efficient and draws lesser power than x86 architectures

Not saying it's a good deal, but that's the wrong way to think about it. Computers aren't priced based on costs at the time of manufacturing, but on supply and demand NOW.

That doesn't stop retailers from increasing prices on their existing inventory. This happened recently with Apple when they announced price increases on many of their items.
