The Kasa outdoor Wi Fi smart plug is a weatherproof way to control holiday lights and other outdoor decorations, with the dual outlet KP400 version getting the most praise for flexibility. It has been used for Christmas, Halloween, and backyard setups, and it integrates cleanly with Home Assistant, Alexa, and the Kasa app for scheduling and voice control. The dual outlet model is the better value for those who need two plugs, while a separate single outlet version also exists. Long term durability is strong, though one unit failed after about five years outside and shorted.

  • The dual-outlet outdoor model can run holiday lights for years without needing adjustment.

    jzyoufoolChewieez

  • Outdoor use can stay stable even during heavy rain and across multiple weather conditions.

    SeekingDealsLikeYougryhnd

  • Fully local Home Assistant integration can work well for outdoor smart plug control.

    SeekingDealsLikeYou

  • Scheduled automation in the Kasa app and Alexa integration can make seasonal outdoor lighting easier.

    Harit007

  • The single-unit deal may be a worse value than the two-outlet KP400 option.

    DAC21

  • Outdoor exposure can lead to a short that blackens and melts the plug after years of use.

These work great for outdoor Christmas/holiday lights. I have two of them set up in my backyard and they have been rock solid even in heavy rain. The integration with Home Assistant is fully local too, which is awesome.

Didn't this used to come with two outlets? Guess everything is subject to shrinkflation.

They make two versions. Buy the one with two outlets if you need two.

Really? That's a different model 🙄

They also have a single outlet version with a dimmer.

These Kasa outdoor plugs are great. I have three of the dual-outlet model, and one of the dimmer model. All are rock solid outside through all kinds of weather.

There's 11 of the "TP-Link PW25 Tapo Wi-Fi Smart Weatherproof Outdoor Dual Plug" for 12.88 with coupon code. I just set one of mine up yesterday. Tapo is the newer system from TP-Link, but you can set up Kasa and Tapo in the Tapo app. The source of vipoutlet is similar to Walmarts leftover items.

I've had these for connecting my outdoor colorful lights during holiday season. They have survived 3 northeastern winters so far without any issue. The scheduled automation with Kara app and integration with Alexa is seemless.

I'd rather a 2 outlet one, but I'm tempted here.
