The Kasa outdoor Wi Fi smart plug is a weatherproof way to control holiday lights and other outdoor decorations, with the dual outlet KP400 version getting the most praise for flexibility. It has been used for Christmas, Halloween, and backyard setups, and it integrates cleanly with Home Assistant, Alexa, and the Kasa app for scheduling and voice control. The dual outlet model is the better value for those who need two plugs, while a separate single outlet version also exists. Long term durability is strong, though one unit failed after about five years outside and shorted.

  • The dual-outlet outdoor model can run holiday lights for years without needing adjustment.

  • Outdoor use can stay stable even during heavy rain and across multiple weather conditions.

    SeekingDealsLikeYougryhnd

  • Fully local Home Assistant integration can work well for outdoor smart plug control.

    SeekingDealsLikeYou

  • Scheduled automation in the Kasa app and Alexa integration can make seasonal outdoor lighting easier.

    Harit007

  • The single-unit deal may be a worse value than the two-outlet KP400 option.

    DAC21

  • Outdoor exposure can lead to a short that blackens and melts the plug after years of use.

They make two versions. Buy the one with two outlets if you need two.
I know, I have three of them. Why would anyone would buy a one outlet when the 2 is basically the same price?

Really? That's a different model 🙄

They also have a single outlet version with a dimmer.
No kidding, of course it's a different model, that's the point. They're sales are basically the same price, so the 2 is BOGO I guess.

I really like the indoor Kasa plugs and switches, so this will be a convenient way to get Alexa to turn outdoor holiday lights on/off via voice

These work great for outdoor Christmas/holiday lights. I have two of them set up in my backyard and they have been rock solid even in heavy rain. The integration with Home Assistant is fully local too, which is awesome.
Absolutely the comment I was looking for buying some

I'd rather a 2 outlet one, but I'm tempted here.
Get the 2 outlet from link above. You will eventually find the use.

Didn't this used to come with two outlets? Guess everything is subject to shrinkflation.
Mine is two outlet, have had it for a few years. Model KP400. Target and Amazon sell it, $18.99 from Amazon and a better value IMO than this single unit.
