I've had good luck with Kasa switches. The app is reliable, setup is straightforward, and HomeKit support is a nice bonus if you're already in the Apple ecosystem.

This is okay if you don't have a need for dimming or 3-way compatibility. I'm a fan of the FEIT WiFi switches. They dim, they are 3-way and can even work in a 4-way configuration. They're about $15/each when you can find them on sale. I've seen them as low as $10.

Wifi is less secure; probably it doesn't matter for some.

Its a reasonable price but the app is very slow and so most of the time, I just use it as normal switch, and I don't like to pay monthly subscription payment for a light switch.

Use the Tapo app, which is tp link. Mine is fast, no subscription that I know of. I have several of these to turn outside lights on and off at specific times.

Most of my switches do not have a neutral wire in the box. I've watched some videos on putting some fancy wiring to bring the neutral back to the switch over the load line since AC is alternating current, but I am pretty concerned about fires.

Do I just wait until my next home for smart switches? I'm pretty sad about that :/
