Am I missing something about this deal? I know the build quality isn't great, but 32gb, 1tb, arc 140v, 100% srgb, 120hz, touch, 3.4 lbs all seems pretty hard to beat for $700 these days.

This refurbished Aspire 16 AI stands out as a light 16 inch laptop with strong specs for the money, especially 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, Intel Arc 140V graphics, and a 120Hz touch display. The screen is described as bright, crisp, semi matte, and smooth thanks to VRR down to 30Hz, while the 65W charger keeps the carry load simple. It also looks capable for everyday gaming and some local AI or machine learning work. The main knocks are build quality, possible cooling and fan noise concerns, and a wireless card failure on arrival in one case. The price feels less compelling than earlier refurb pricing, though warranty coverage and coupon discounts help soften it.

  • Travelers who want a light 16-inch laptop, because it weighs 3.4 pounds and uses a simple 65W charger.

    JollyNose1327SRFNYCSRFNYC

  • Users who want a bright touch display for everyday work, because the screen is crisp, responsive, and rated 100% sRGB.

    JollyNose1327DirtCheapDadSRFNYC

  • College students running local AI tools, because 32GB RAM and a recent CPU give enough headroom for on-device work.

    DirtCheapDadDirtCheapDad

  • Casual gamers playing modern titles at modest settings, because the integrated graphics can handle AAA games at lower resolutions and stays smooth with VRR.

    WooHoo2YouSRFNYC

  • Shoppers expecting a premium chassis, because the build quality is described as weak compared with better-built alternatives.

    JollyNose1327DirtCheapDad

  • People wanting a true high-end AI workstation, because 32GB RAM is enough for light local AI but not for serious on-device model work.

    whatgooddealDirtCheapDad

  • Buyers who need a flawless out-of-box wireless setup, because the wireless network card can arrive nonworking.

Does it have a good screen for reading? How eBay/Acer return policy works after I turn it on and sign in? What is this laptop missing except a fingerprint reader? Constructive suggestions are appreciated.

I bought one for my daughter starting college, knowing that 32gb is needed for on-system AI tools. This is a max 6 month old model, so I'm expecting the battery to be great still. I would be all over the similar Swift Go deal with OLED that is about $650 if it just had 32gb of ram. Would gladly have paid $750-ish for a refurb on that over this, with the better build quality of the Swift line, but we'll see. Some of the Aspire products seem to have poor cooling/noisy fans, others are excellent. 30 day return policy should be non issue with eBay backing it.

you can't run much "AI" on 32gb.
