Don't buy the X line if you value good keyboard input

I have the 14" version, hate hate the keyboard So flat can't tell what keys my fingers are on

If possible, try to find a Best Buy near you to test this laptop out. For a 16" laptop, this does not have the numpad. There are other Omnibook X laptops that have the full keyboard. With regards to if this is a better laptop or not, you will need to provide the full XPS 13 part number to understand the specs to compare.

Its to keep it thin, you can get a usb c to hdmi for 10$ or a usb hub with hdmi out for 20ish.

There are HDMI ports on incredibly thin laptops -- two examples I own are the 2.5lb 16" Asus Zenbook A16 and the incredibly thin Asus Zenbook S 16. If you have room to fit a USB-A port, you can fit a HDMI port.

The XPS specs are easy if you go to the Dell website. $800 is the student price of the base model but with 16GB instead of 8GB. There are two ways to customize it (not counting color)...everything else is fixed.

The Snapdragon chip in the HP will KILL the budget Intel chip in the Dell, both for performance and gaming. The HP is larger and heavier than the XPS 13, but not so much as to be inconvenient. The OLED display is a bonus on the HP, but is lower resolution that the 13" 2560x1600 panel on the Dell (which will look much sharper than the HP). The HP has more ports to plug things in...the Dell has 2 of the same USB-C ports and that's it. The HP has 24GB RAM vs 16GB on the XPS.

The XPS 13 battery, according to reviews I've watched, last >20 hours. This HP is appears to be a Best Buy exclusive and I don't see any battery run times other than mentions of "incredible battery life", and "all day".

Then there is the downside of being on the bleeding edge with Snapdragon -- compatibility. I have a Zenbook A16 with the almost-top-end Snapdragon and so far, haven't really run into compatibility issues (and I really try to stay native ARM64 for my apps with little emulation). So you might not have too much of a problem. I will say that with the Snapdragon CPU running Windows on ARM, Windows is much snappier than the regular x64 versions of Windows that everyone has.

If you do any light gaming, you'll appreciate the Snapdragon GPU vs the low-end Intel graphics on the XPS.

So, as you see, there are lots of different things to consider and decide what your priorities are. There is no "better buy" until you decide what is important to you.

What kind of OLED screen technology only has 300nits brigthness? Something doesn't sound right about the display specs.
