The mobo+7800x3d+32gb ram was $450 a few years ago. I will tell this story to my grand kids as the best deal I missed.

I seen some 7800X3Ds for sale from sellers on AliExpress for around $285. Def an option to consider if you don't mind receiving the processor in an OEM tray and don't live nearby a MicroCenter.

Got that bundle from micro center just months ago for about $385 after taxes. First they had a price mistake where the bundle was set at $500 instead of 600. Then they accidentally gave me the wrong (but still compatible) motherboard as part of the kit and then they refunded the full price of the motherboard. I just got lucky.

No need to make assumptions if you've never purchased anything on AliExpress before.

I am looking for a new CPU to replace my 8600G for QHD gaming, which I'll be pairing with a RTX 4070 Ti.

7800X3D was on sale for $280 last year. If it drops to that price again or lower, I'll buy it.
If not, I'll grab a 7600X3D for $200 at Micro Center.
Sometimes 9600X drops to around $120 on Amazon/Woot; if that happens, I'll pick that up instead.

While the 9800X3D offers the best performance among these CPUs, $399 doesn't seem like a good price-to-performance ratio.
I plan to pick one of these up by Thanksgiving.

The "regular" price at Microcenter is $329.

I paid $319 a few years ago.

I missed the $300 deal, unfortunately.

And I never saw a $280 deal ...

Just recently bought the 9950x3d to upgrade the 7800x3d.

What did you do with the 7800x3D? Do you need someone to... take it off your hands? 😄 And what's your real-world performance benefit with the 9950x3D - were there certain games/tasks that were struggling before that are vastly improved now?
