That's not a very bright display, right (220 nits)?

A crap laptop with an outdated processor, trash 220-nits 45% NTSC screen, all for $630, being thumbed up. Crazy.

The %ntsc is hard to find. That makes the washed out colors that I so dislike. 220 is low now. The display breaks this deal unless it was like the pre ram crisis and a $300 or less. I got a lenovo like that with 8 and I scavenged another 8 DDR4 from my old mini pc nuc. The screen is poor but I believe not THIS bad.

Calling 2K resolution a great laptop feature is misleading because the label is a loose marketing term that often creates poor pixel scaling, drains battery life, and overtaxes mobile graphics hardware.

This is a 1920 x 1080 screen.

Historically the Dell 220 nits and 250 nits IPS screens were attached to lesser CPU and RAM combinations and have been a staple of models half this price. Many of these models were barely acceptable for basic productivity. Here there is a remarkably capable Intel CPU model for productivity, etc. with two (2) performance cores and eight (8) efficiency cores. Additionally, the 16GB RAM configuration is again a solid configuration for productivity (compared with common 8GB builds which are exhausted upon boot by default Windows 11 configurations). In lesser models, the minimum spec 1080p screen was a bonus for basic media consumption versus an even lower-spec model (with lower resolution and/or a non-IPS panel technology).

For validation of the issue with platforms shipped with 8GB of RAM, look no further than Microsoft's recent committment to making 8GB of RAM more functional again: https://www.windowslatest.com/202...d-of-2026/

Best Buy doesn't always have the best track record for documentation, so sharing the Dell site reference:
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/d...250-laptop

Good luck!
Jon

Easy to find on Dell's support site for this model. Though functional, it is exactly as bad as noted. Even the brightest option available for this model (300 nits) is still only rated for 45% NTSC. This model is intended to deliver on resolution (1080p) but nothing else.

Check for the Dell 15 DC15250 here to find the relevant table for all three (3) screen options:
https://www.dell.com/support/prod...es/manuals

Good luck!
