The picture showing the step protecting your vehicle in accidents is hilarious. Since the receiver is bolted directly to the frame, any collision energy that would normally be absorbed by the bumper would be pushed into the frame potentially causing more expensive damage and more felt shock to the occupants by the impact and greater chance of whiplash or injury. Fender bender protection? Sure, but you will definitely know when it happens.
