Community Reviews
The Cotopaxi Allpa 35L is a well regarded one bag travel pack built for carry on trips, with a suitcase style opening, organized pockets, and a comfortable harness that transfers weight to the hip belt. It gets praise for holding a lot, working well for work travel and gym gear, and replacing a suitcase after some practice with packing. The main caveats are size and laptop fit, since 35L can feel big for everyday use and the back laptop sleeve may not suit larger, thicker machines. It is a strong fit for travel first packing, especially if you do not need a commuter sized bag.
Travelers who want a highly rated backpack with hip-belt weight transfer, because it is praised as a top travel pick and designed to shift load to the hips.
Frequent one-bag travelers packing for flights, because the 35L layout works well as a carry-on and supports micro-packing without needing a suitcase.
Carry-on flyers who prefer suitcase-style access, because the full-wrap zipper and organized compartments make packing and retrieval straightforward.
Travel workers who want a pack for office days and gym stops, because it holds clothes well and handles work-to-workout transitions.
Commuters carrying a daily office load, because the 35L size is described as too big for everyday use.
Travelers who need strong back ventilation, because the strap and mesh backing system is not as emphasized as on ventilated alternatives.
People carrying thicker work laptops, because the laptop compartment can be too small for larger machines.
Hikers wanting a dedicated trail pack, because a different pack is preferred for hiking.

35L is big. 20L is about right for a commuter bag.
IMO Osprey is KING, but this bag is rated very highly at a lot of places.
FWIW, This is Cleverhiker's top pick ("Best Travel Backpack Overall") even above Osprey among 11 entries:

I still prefer Osprey bags (and in this case the equivalent Farpoint 40L bag) because their strap and mesh backing system is second-to-none. I value ventilation and this bag doesn't seem to have the same kind of emphasis on that feature.

The Farpoint is also great, but for airplane travel (not having a checked bag) I prefer this. For hiking I could see how the Farpoint might be considered better.
Edit: I'll add I picked mine up after watching several seasons of Jet Lag: The Game on YouTube. I figured if these guys traveling the world prefer Cotopaxi, it might be worth checking out.
