  • Safe Application: The MX-4 is metal-free and non-electrical conductive which eliminates any risks of causing short circuit, adding more protection to the CPU and VGA cards
  • High Durability: In contrast to metal and silicon thermal compound, the MX-4 does not compromise over time. Once applied, you do not need to apply it again as it will last at least for 8 years

Good for use on a 5+ year old Series S? Not sure if it needs repasting or not but I just opened it and cleaned it out and feel like a repasting might have me set for another 3-5 years of not worrying about it.

It's funny product application has already been mentioned. Many YouTubers have done tests proving the actual application of the paste is nearly irrelevant. So spread it out carefully, or blob it on and smash the heatsink in place. Same end results.

Isn't the 8g tube a better deal for $5.99?

If you plan to use it for more than one component, yes but if it's just for one heatsink, no reason to get extra.

I've always had great thermal results with Arctic pastes

and these do have a shelf-life component to them, at least once the tube is opened. I don't think MX-4 separates like some silicone pastes do, but they all tend to dry out over time. I've even had a few bargain brand heatsinks and all-in-one coolers ship with generic white silicone that was dry/hard in the box.

I know it's $1.65 more, but the MX-7 has better performance in several areas while still maintaining non-conductivity. You don't get the spatula, but they're not really needed at all. That said, we're still talking under $8.
