Z2A (minor enhancement from the steamdeck) is a 4c/8t zen 2 cpu with 8CU RDNA2 igpu. for all intents and purposes, picture this as the baseline with the steam deck performance wise. the Cheaper ROG ally Xbox(the lower end model) uses this.
this device(legion go S), uses the Z2 Go, which is a 4c/8t zen 3 product(think AMD 5000 series cpus) with 12CU RDNA2. I like to personally see this as a "Steam deck plus/pro" because more modern cpu with same core count, and 50% larger igpu of the same architecture.
Z2e is a 8c/16t zen 5 cpu, with 16CU RDNA3 (2022 gpu architecture). the Ally rog xbox x uses this(the expensive model). It is a faster device, however gen over gen, RDNA3 is like slightly faster than RDNA2 (about 10-15% at equivalent CU count), and the 8 cores of the cpu while in handheld mode might take up more power that should be allocated to the igpu instead, so its less consistent as a handheld experience, however the docked performance is significantly better since you remove many of the power limitations the hardware has. It's a better hybrid device (imo) than it is strictly a handheld. AFAIK though with the cpu problem, I think asus has features to park cpu but I cant recall if it was them or not.
so the legion go s ultimately is better than the base Z2A version of the Xbox, but the faster ROG Xbox device is faster, but might not be entirely ideal in a handheld sense, and in handheld, both are much closer to each other with the wattage limitations.
