ASUS RT-BE59 is a budget WiFi 7 router that looks strongest as a step up from older ASUS WiFi 5 gear, especially for AiMesh setups and faster 5 GHz performance. The 3x3 5 GHz radio and ASUS support history make it appealing for homes that want a newer backbone and ongoing firmware updates. The big limitation is that it has no 6 GHz band, so the WiFi 7 upside is mostly latency and snappier browsing rather than big speed gains. Its benefits also depend on having WiFi 7 capable devices, and coverage through walls still looks limited.
Common Questions (5)
It can be an upgrade in newer features and 5 GHz performance, but the jump may not feel dramatic for basic browsing, streaming, or a low-speed internet plan. The biggest noticeable gains are more likely to be snappier latency and better 5 GHz speeds, while older WiFi 5 routers can still feel fast enough for light use.
If your current ASUS router is still supported and covers your home well, the practical gain may be small unless you want newer hardware, better security support, or faster 5 GHz performance. If your older model is end-of-life, upgrading also restores future firmware support.
The benefit is limited without WiFi 7-capable hardware. If your phones, laptops, and other devices are mostly WiFi 4-6, you may not notice much improvement, and 6 GHz support is only useful for a small set of newer devices.
No. The RT-BE59 is a dual-band WiFi 7 router, so it does not include 6 GHz. That makes it less useful for 6 GHz-specific benefits, especially since many devices still cannot take advantage of that band.
Yes. It can be used in an AiMesh setup with an Ethernet backbone, which is a practical way to improve whole-home coverage without relying only on wireless mesh links.

Currently I'm using my trusted many year long relationship with my ASUS RT-AC68U. I picked up 3 of them many years ago from t-mobile sale on them. It is only wifi 5. It is mesh device, but I really only use one of them, but a few years ago set it up for mesh.
My spectrum speed is 50gb ... everything I do works on it, and I do put latest updates on it.
What do you guys suggest, wait another year, or jump in, will I notice a differance. I live a lone. I do look at routers every few years, but as long as my setup still works (so stayed with what works.). Do you guys think in tech years, I'm a caveman using wifi 5 ... and the asus RT-AC68U. .... should I upgrade or stay in my CAVE.
Youtube has a couple of BE 58 asus pro's reviewing it.
Amazon reviews don't seem that positive to me. What do you more knowledgable guys think?
seems like good price ... 95 dollars. new.
maybe some of you guys will really like this router and recommend it and own it.

Mine is still working solidly as an access point, but it became way to difficult to update after the legal issues with Asus, so I'm looking for a modern $50 router that is actively updated.
