Not a plumber, but i don't think you could go wrong either way unless you're doing a lot of 1" lines, then go with the dewalt. I have an m12 that I used to completely plumb my house and a few odd jobs for friends. It works incredibly well but it was noticeably slower with 1" lines.

Is this worth it over a pex b setup? I'm in construction and it seems all the plumbers use the crimp ring style pex.

plex a is more expensive but easier to work with - i'm guessing the plumbers are using pex b because that is what the contractors are paying for?

pex A is actually cheaper if you want the same flow rate. with pex B you would need to step up to 3/4" to get similar flow rate as 1/2" pex A since pex B fittings reduce the diameter of the line as they are fitted in the pipe instead of stretching the pipe around the fitting like pex A. also pex A is much more flexible so alot of times you can bend the line instead of having to install fittings to change directions.

Some PEX B can be used with expansion tools/fittings, and is the same price as regular PEX A. Nice option to have.

Vevor dot com has a similar tool for $200 if you find a coupon. The vevor tool is a beast and brushless, but I don't know enough about dewalt expanders. The vevor tool comes with 2 each 20v batteries that are rumored to be compatible with Milwaukee....

Hi just to be clear this is tool only it's called 1" expander meaning it can use 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 & 1" expander heads(sold separately). It not a 1" only expander. But like I said it's only the tool I don't see that expander heads are included and battery either Description says "The pex tool expands 3/8-inch - 1-inch Pex Type-A tubing"The picture show two expander heads however what's in the box does not say any heads are included

Yes pex b the ID(inner diameter) is smaller then pex a. So most pros uses pex a. Pex b is diyerSo if you are concerned about volume use pex a not pex b

PEX A is a better pipe (no memory like PEX B), the connections are more reliable (not that crimp rings/stainless clamps are bad, just not as good as expansion pex), and it's quite easy to use. It's a solid improvement over other methods/pipe, but I wouldn't hesitate to use any.

The better flow is nice as well of course.

According to dewalt's page [dewalt.com], DCE400B should includes the following:
  • PEX Expander (DCE400)
  • 1/2" PEX Expander Head (DCE40012)

It includes the heads. I bought the same kit two months ago. "Tool Only" means it doesn't come with the batteries and charger.

I know. My point is that the m12 is a bit weak for 1". The dewalt has more power, which is only noticeable with 1" fittings.
