Its pretty good assuming you need and can actually benefit from 240Hz vs a much cheaper 2K 165Hz-180Hz monitor which would cost $100 less. I think the vast majority of people aren't that skilled where they'd see an appreciable difference in their game play between a 2K 165Hz monitor and 2K 240Hz so getting a less expensive $200 165Hz monitor seems like a better choice for most people which might be why this deal isn't getting more upvotes.

I'm pretty sure the other difference is that higher Hz OLEDs (above 180Hz) usually imply that it's a newer panel which fixes issues the previous generation had

Where are you seeing new OLED monitors for $200? Those don't exist?

27" 1440p 144hz OLEDS are rare for some reason. Cheapest OLEDS are 1440p 240hz. This is a decent deal but theres so much competition between these monitor companies. A lot of them are competing for the $300 price point that its now normal to see.

First, this is a 3rd gen panel

Second, the generation of the panel doesn't dictate the brightness as there are different versions of 3rd gen panels. For instance, Samsung G50SF, G60SD, G60SF all are 3rd gen panels, they have varying refresh rates 180,360,500 Hz respectively, but also different brightness level with the dimmest being the G50SF and the brightest being the G60SF, with the 60SF even being VESA certified with True Black 500 (basically says something about it's minimum peak brightness etc.)

That said, this particular Gigabyte one is the "budget version" of their 27" QD-OLED, don't know what the full screen brightness is because manufacturers almost NEVER give that information (often 10% window brightness) or some obscure value. Their MO27Q2A is the brighter version of this panel, also 280hz. But FYI, TB400 certification is just a 250nit full screen, with peaks at 400nits, although the 1% windows can get significantly brighter.

That said, for the price range this is a decent monitor, I'd take this over the Acer Predator one that Costco sells, or the Samsung G50SF, which both have been in this price range (I think the Acer one currently is). But if you want to treat yourself better... yeah spend another $100+ (or wait until one of the better ones drops down to that $400ish range)
