The Flint 2 was quite legendary because it had good hardware and supported openwrt. That means if they ever stop officially supporting it with firmware updates, you can just switch to open source firmware. The Flint 3 and later versions improved hardware/ports and added WiFi 7 but they switched to a different chipset that does not support openwrt. They're still generally good devices and official support has been good so far. But they dropped one of their bigger selling points by switching chipsets.

Correct. The Flint 4 router is coming out very soon and goes back to supporting open wrt, so it becomes a much better option than the Flint 3

This is a good router but does not supporty Open-WRT, the flint 2 legendary model is hard to find new now unless you order direct from China.

Except is gonna be way more expensive. At least double. There's a leaked price on the German site of over $1000 euros might not be accurate but it's got 4 streams on 5 and 6ghz. It's not gonna be cheap.

They just had a small sale a month ago. Got my Flint 2 direct from GliNet for $136. Not earth shattering but it was the model I wanted.

It's $299, preorders start Aug 4 and super early preorders get it for $259. Can't buy it in the US though.
