From my research:
  • Screen refresh process is slow and awful to look at.
  • TRMNL provides firmware for this device, but if you want to use it with their servers it's a $50 fee. You might as well just buy one from them.
  • Could make sense if you're going to self-host TRMNL or want to use it with ESPHome/Home Assistant. I don't know that there is a straightforward way of doing that right now.

this battery wont last a month. the official one have 3 times more battery and lasts around the same. i wouldn't get it if it is not 6x more battery to be honest

Does the grayscale take the same amount of time to refresh as color ?

Grayscale can do partial refresh but color takes 20-30 seconds of flashing to get there.
