I have a roomba i7 that's still kicking , and a Roborock s7 that is ok. How does this compare ? I need one for my finished basement that is mostly hard floor. Or would this be a better choice for my main floor that has a 50/50 of hardwood and carpet? Never researched this brand.

Roborock and Dreame are quite similar. Among Chinese vacuum brands, they are arguably the top two players in the market. I think Roborock is slightly better than Dreame, but Dreame is definitely worth a try, especially since Costco's return policy is excellent.

Roborock isn't better than Dreame. Most tests and YouTube reviews, especially vacuum wars, shows Dreame to be better and arguably the best.

I have two Dreame vacs and have been happy with their performance overall. I don't use them (or the Roomba i7 I used to use) on carpet. I don't find any of them to be very effective on the dog hair I have. They just ball it up and leave it behind. So I use a real canister vac for my carpets. The newest one I got - the 508/X40 from Costco last year - is very good at navigation. It rarely gets confused or stuck. Vacuuming on hard floors is fine and the mopping is pretty good on the daily dog drool I get on my kitchen floor.

I don't think this model has an extending side brush for corners
