i have an older model - if you have an office with wifi but that stupid splash screen - this allows you to create your own network that gets around it... Allows me to have IOT things around my office (e.g. lightbulbs) and also lets you disguise or anonymize traffic so you can get through some firewall bs - legal of course (like accessing my home PC or because google is blocked at my work preventing me from looking at my personal calendar etc). also can work with your phone's hotspot if you want to offload routing duting.
