Seems like all countertop ice makers get average reviews. Buying from Costco at least has the benefit of the return policy. Curious is anyone has experience with this unit.

I am in the market for an ice maker as well; but have not come across this one so far. Project Farm just did a video on various ice makers available in the market and this one is not on the list though https://youtu.be/d3vuOyPrsXk?si=XDaSEpyruVPQRUd1

Had the GE Opal. Loved it but it was so loud and needed a lot of cleaning upkeep. And if you didn't clean it regularly then finally did a cleaning the stuff that came out of it was enough to make you not want to use the ice in the future. Ended up selling it.

if you are in the market dont buy any non-commercial units. That video tests two units that are in the same category, consumer products not made to last. read about the average lifespan and ease of maintenance for even the smallest commercial unit. Hoshizaki, Manitowoc are the brands you should be looking into.

3.6* rating. Only 8 reviews. Few things going for it is the Costco return policy and that it's a nugget ice maker. Pricey given that it doesn't keep ice cold and ice starts to melt immediately in the bucket. I heard it helps to put some ice in the bucket to pre-chill these countertop ice makers.

I have this Newair older version we've been using for a good 2 yrs now.
Got it from Walmart for $99.
We also got a bigger Frigidaire from Costco for $199.
Between the 2, we like this cheaper version better as the nugget ices are softer.
Basically the ice sits on top of the water tank so if it melts, it goes back into the water.
The cheaper one is a little less loud but still loud.
Most of the bad reviews on these nugget ice machine was always about the noise.
They are noisy. We solve this problem by making a lot of ice and keep it in a gigantic insulated bottle when we need it. So it's loud but we shut it off after a couple of hours.
I like the idea of buying from Costco because it it breaks down, you can just return it.
Worth the extra $30.

I am in the market looking for a compact ice maker for occasional travel use and camping trips; the ones you pointed are great brands but seemed more geared towards commercial setups. Thanks anyway.
