As to the laptop, this is a nice deal. RAM needs to be upgraded to 24GB or 32GB to ensure it won't be starved for memory in newer games, but it's supposed to be equipped with SODIMMs, so the only thing holding you back are high RAM prices. It seems it's a coin-flip if these come with 2x8GB SODIMMs, or 1x16GB. If you're lucky, it'll be 1x16GB, so all you need to go to 32GB is another similarly matched 16GB SODIMM.
Overall, it's nice if you need a reasonably priced gaming laptop.
With refurbished models, it will indeed be hard to tell unless someone else has purchased one of these from Acer via their eBay store recently. I've found Acer often uses whatever available SODIMMs they have on hand to get the model up to 16GB before shipping.

Edit: Looks like this has a different screen, too. The 5070ti version has a 240hz OLED.
It goes in and out of stock pretty often. They recently had it for $1275 but looks like it's up to $1301. Still a solid deal. Mine has been flawless after about a month of use so far.
